A message from the owner...

Art 4 Children Inc is a company founded by me, Jessica Welch in 2001. I am an artist who has been working with children both academically and artistically since the age of 16. I soon realized my passion for teaching children and the arts were going to lead into starting my own business. Now at the age of 35, and a mother of two children under the age of five, my focus hasn't changed. I recently finished my 5th year as a public school art teacher at Discovery elementary. I took this year off so I can focus on being a mom and put more energy into developing more camp programs. Art 4 Children also offers classes for homeschooled children, private & group lessons for playgroups or any other type of group (girl scouts, brownies, special events etc).

After I became a mother in 2004, Art 4 Children hired our first employee, Jenn Rubattino who will be our school programs and seasonal camp director. Being a California credentialed teacher herself and very active with children both creatively and academically, she will have an active roll in every part of Art 4 Children Incorporated. Our company has only grown through word of mouth. During any camp day, 75% are returning children and the rest are their new friends!

We took the steps towards incorporating in 2005 and are working on our Non-profit status for the 2010-2012 school year. We are excited that our programs will be able to reach more children, families and schools in North County San Diego!

Just like with any business, the future of Art 4 Children will depend on the needs of the consumer. I hope my company moves on a steady path to success. Given the terrific feedback and support Art 4 Children has received from school staff, parents and children, I feel that success is already here. All the children that enroll in our programs are becoming familiar faces to our teachers and to our camp directors and instructors. That says a lot!

The Focus & Mission:

Art 4 Children was founded for parents and children. We know you are investing in your children's future. We nurture your child to use the skills they have, as well as develop others, to become expressive, creative and imaginative individuals. We want them to live more fulfilled lives, and in turn give back to their community. We try to create independent and confident children by preparing them for their creative world. Specifically regarding our camps, we want children to feel safe, secure, develop friendships and be treated with respect, kindness and dignity. This is why we hire teachers who have already been certified through the state of California and receive further training so that they can put our mission into action.

We all know how important a creative and academic education is to a child's well being and sense of self. Once children can feel confident with expressing themselves creatively, they will make great strides academically, and their world becomes a more colorful place.
